White Wedding

One of the flowers from my show and poems for her.

Who says we have to stay as we are sitting scarred as life passes you by.
This isn’t my story or my family’s its a story of a friends struggle to find happiness and come out a winner!

Who ever thought I’d see this day that my mom would get remarried!
And have the wedding that she always dreamed of a long long time ago when she was a young girl.
Who ever thought I be standing in this church with all these smiling people?
While looking at this holy place filled with fine white flowers.
Who ever thought that she would up and take that vow again?
After 20 years of being hurt and being beat by a crazy man!
Oh life’s got it’s crazy bumps and ugly little turns we struggle every day to shine a light on it.
But when she shut the doors down and said thats the last time.
I closed my eyes and said thank you God for hearing all my payers.
She never made the right choices when picking out a man.
She didn’t have a role model so she did the best she could!
She always thought that a man was someone who was tuff.
And brought food home to the table with out any love!
She always picked the ones who were in the streets all night.
And never ever bought her a pretty thing for their entire married life.
She struggled every day to make a home thats nice.
And then he’d come in mighty drunk and start an ugly fight.
Some body killed him in the streets when I was really young.
The only thing I can remember of him was that really mean hard voice.
It took my mom ten long year’s to finally find herself.
And put her thoughts on better things than always feeling hurt.
And then we see the little rays that tumble down from god.
And then ten years later look at you your wearing a white gown.
What words can I say to her that will express that she’s come a real long way!
From all the pain an hurting that she went through for all those years.
I sat and watched as my old man took his anger out on her.
I was to young to strike a blow for my lovely mom.
So here I stand as her best man with tear drops in my eyes!
She’s picked a good one this time she finally got it right!
I can’t believe she’s getting married and will give it one more try!
But life’s a white wedding if you only give it a try!
